Doctors Say Beware of Drugstore Tests for Alzheimer's, Breast Cancer (AOL Health)
May 13th 2010 7:42AM Absolutely. I just took a genetics class and learned a bit about these direct-to-consumer tests. Not only are they not regulated, meaning they can claim what they want and it doesn't have to be true, anyone using them needs to read the fine print about how the results of the tests can be used and by who. I would have a problems sending my genetic information to God knows who to be used God knows how.
Scary 'Stalker Apps' Silenced by Facebook Due to Security Concerns (Switched)
Mar 17th 2010 6:53PM Facebook haters- If you don't like it, don't use it, quitcherbellyachin' about it and go take your critical, crabby butt back into the cave you came from. This is the way a lot of us keep in touch with family and friends. If you're using Facebook and you're not having fun, you're doing it wrong. :o)
Heather Trimmed Portions to Slim Down (That's Fit)
Jul 18th 2009 10:05AM I am glad that she lost the weight but I don't think most people are motivated to do that by being called "fat and lazy".
Charlie Robison's Divorce Inspires 'Beautiful' Music (The Boot)
Jun 27th 2009 11:22PM I want to gag when I hear yet another "musician" putting their heart and soul into their writing after divorcing. How about putting your heart and soul into your MARRIAGE?

The 20 Worst Lyrics Ever: Your Turn (Spinner)
Apr 1st 2007 9:48AM I remember the first time I heard "Beautiful Stranger" (sung by Madonna) on the radio, I started laughing. The whole thing is awful, but here is a sample:
If I'm smart then I'll run away
But I'm not so I guess I'll stay
Heaven forbid
I'll take my chance on a beautiful stranger
I looked into your eyes
And my world came tumbling down
You're the devil in disguise
That's why I'm singing this song
I think my 5-year-old could have come up with those lyrics. (Of course, being a song from an Austin Powers movie, maybe that's the idea.) I love Madonna, but can't listen to that song without coming close to vomiting.
Are kids getting brattier? (ParentDish)
Aug 20th 2006 8:05AM My child has a behavioral disorder (autism) and behaves far better than many "typical" children I see. When he has trouble controlling himself in a restaurant (very rare) we leave. Some days he can't tolerate noise. It's not his fault, but there is a fine line between my son needing practice in social situations and ruining other diners' experience. I think it's sad that restaurants feel they must post signs reminding parents to do the job they should be doing in the first place. I'm with the camp that feels parents are too permissive, and children are spoiled rotten with material things and not disciplined well anymore.
That said, how is a kid supposed to learn appropriate behavior when his parent is blabbing on a cell phone in a restaurant, in the car, at the grocery store, even in public restrooms? I think many adults need to change some inconsiderate behavior too.
Pea-phobic woman to appear on TV (Slashfood)
Mar 24th 2006 4:53PM For everything in the world, there is someone who is phobic of it. I hate balloons, sparks of any kind, and static electricity, among others. About 10 more things. Some I'm severely phobic of, some I can handle. I know someone who is afraid of birds' wings flapping. I would never be stupid enough to go on TV to be ridiculed for it, though. I saw one of the talk shows had a girl who was terrified of pickles. They used her for laughs, brought out a plate of pickles. While the whole audience died laughing, she scrambled in terror to hide under the chairs, crying her eyes out. That is CRUEL, not humorous. Most people would not like to be in a pit of snakes or spiders. It's the SAME kind of anxiety-fight or-flight adrenaline. Your brain just confuses what is dangerous with what is not. How many people are claustrophobic? SAME THING...except it's so common people accept it as normal. Phobias are not funny, it's a mental illness and when you have enough of them it's debilitating. And no, it's not an attention-seeking thing. Why on earth would anyone seek attention by pretending to be scared of mundane things? It's MISERY to carry this much anxiety, try to hide it, and be either ridiculed or chastised when you fail to hide it.
Potter 5 Shoots Grawp (Cinematical)
Mar 20th 2006 3:20PM My, my two sisters, mother, and two cousins are huge Harry fans, and we are all over 30. Love the books, the movies are great but 4 was too scary, in my opinion, for my kids to see (ages 4 and 7.)Not a whole lot they can do about that; the later books are even more scary and violent, I think.
I understand when they have to cut parts out because of book length but why is it always parts I like? LOL
Not really, I think they have done a great job with the movies. Can't wait for 5. Alan Rickman (Snape)is my personal favorite.
