James Bond Delayed Due to MGM Woes (Cinematical)

Jan 6th 2010 6:43AM Pierce Brosnan was the consummate Bond, with Sean Connery a close second. This guy is not at all what Bond is about. They should give his films a different name. He lacks the suave sophistication and dry humor and understated sexuality of the real Bond as depicted by the author. This guy is merely an action figure. Rugged, not sophisticated; coarse, not refined; action, not plot. I hope that he doesn't destroy the whole Bond genre forever. No wonder the company is in financial difficulties.

AIG execs threaten to quit if pay is cut (Daily Finance)

Dec 8th 2009 5:09AM These people performed so poorly that they needed a massive government bailout. They are lucky that they aren't fired. There are many ready to take their place for this kind of big money. Let them go, and let someone new try. It couldn't get any worse and might get better. I would love to see who is stupid enugh to hire them after they go...maybe another shady ripoff organization. I don't want to reward them for utter incompetence. 500k and a large bonus is more than enough for anyone in my opinion..believe me, there are a legion of competent takers at this price.

Sorting the Sunday Pile, Week 14: There's Good News and Bad News for Cowboys (Fanhouse NFL Blog)

Dec 9th 2008 3:12AM This article says that ths game was "eminently winnable" for Dallas, and that up until midway through the 4th quarter they "were on their way to third consecutive win." Not true. Pittsburgh had already racked up 2 interceptions and a fumble from Dallas, and stopped their running and passing games. The Steelers missed a field goal in the first quarter at a range Jeff Reed usually makes, and got to the 1 yard line at the beginning of the fourth quarter but didn't punch it in. Lets face it, this is nothing but bad luck and usually would have amounted to 10 more points for the Steeler's. The 17 points the Steelers scored in the final 7 minutes were nothing but a continuation of the way the Steelers were tromping the Cowboys the whole game, minus a little bad luck. The Steelers were much superior. This wasnt just a little bad luck by Dallas.but another great performance by Pittsburgh

The Browns, Who Are 1-3, Are Talking Trash About the Giants, Who Are 4-0 (Fanhouse NFL Blog)

Oct 14th 2008 12:54AM HaHaHaHaHa...the Browns and Williams sure made fools of most of you!!!! I guess their trash talk was on target. They knew more than most of the pundits. Be careful the next time you show such disrespect for a team.

Joey Porter on the Patriots: 'They Cheated. There Should Be an Asterisk' (Fanhouse NFL Blog)

May 25th 2008 5:56AM He is 100% right. This is no different than winning a championship after taking steroids. This kind of cheating put the patriots at an obvious advantage. What team wouldn't do better if they know what the oher team is practicing? They did it for a reason, because it helped them. Coaches like Cowher are just being good standup men saying it didn't matter...they know otherwise. And why in the world WOULD they destroy the evidence?

International Bad Products Awards: Sleeping pills for kids and other 'winners' (BloggingStocks)

Oct 31st 2007 6:59AM I think this is a great example of consumer groups with a lynch mob mentality. They look to crucify corporations any chance they get, and fairness or objectivity go out the window. I'll take each of their examples. They seem to disregard the fact that Mattel DID recall 21 million toys...thats a huge financial loss for the company and a very responsible act. Even though it is widely recognized as being primarily the fault of the Chinese, Mattel was big enough to take some responsibility. They didn't have to do that. As far as Coke and Dasani....it is not exactly just tap water, it has been purified with the chemicals in tap water eliminated. Many of us appreciate that, and thats why we buy it over other "spring" waters. This is another distortion by the consumer group. And as for Kellogg's and cereal? Have you ever bothered to read the nutrional information on the "junk" cereals versus the "wholesome" granola type cereals? Try it. You will be surprised. The "junk" cereals usually contain more vitamins and just as many carbs and actually fewer calories than the supposedly healthy cereals. Kelloggs is being very responsible, but because their cereals are marketed to kids they are easy to bash. I never saw one of the Takeda commercials, but from the description above, are we sure they are marketing to parents for kids? It sounds to me like they are marketing to parents for their own use. These consumer groups are guilty of the same selfish fraud that they are accusing big industry of having...in fact its worse...they are supposed to be protecting us...but instead they make a large profit by their scare tactics. They are a business too, a business meant to frighten us. They are successful, as evidenced by how many read this article.

Video Games Are Too Boring, Says EA (Switched)

Jul 10th 2007 4:04AM I agree with EA completely. Sure there is a place for complex games for intense gamers, but there are a lot of us that don't have 4-12 hours at a time to get into a game. We have a half hour here and an hour there and want to be able to have some fun in that time. We're more interested in good game play than good graphics. We want to be able to pick up how to play a game fast and be entertained. The new generation of games do lack innovation, and playing them is like wading through quicksand. The Wii perfectly addresses these needs, that is why it is so enormously popular. I think the more conventional platforms could return to doing this also, at least for a segment of the games that are produced.

The Continuing Saga of Paris' Jail Sentence (The Cooler)

Jun 10th 2007 6:44AM The fact that Paris is getting jail time is in everyone's best interest, including hers. She will kill herself, or someone else, if she continues to operate under the supposition that she can do anything she wants without consequences. Her behavior, with the dui and subsequent 2 infractions pretty clearly demonstrate this.
I have little sympathy fo her reaction to the incarceration. I am a psychiatrist. I know jail is distressing. It is intended to be distressing. She is not being tortured or sent to the electric chair. Her reaction to being sent to confinement in a priviliged section of the prison without even the inconvenience of a roommate is revealing about how much she views herself as being above civilzed society. Frankly, I think this will be helpful in bringing her back to earth. This could save her life and others.
As to the comments that she is being treated unfairly: if i were convicted of a DUI, then TWICE drove on a suspended license, and didn't attend the required course on drunk driving, I would certainly expect severe consequences...wouldn't you? Can you imagine a more flagrant violation of the law? This is like giving the finger to the judge. C'mon, do you really think this only deserves 3 days in jail?

The Bum's Rush (News Bloggers)

May 9th 2007 8:00AM I agree with most of what dalosophy says. Quite insightful. However I strongly disagee with his several brushstroke disparaging remarks against the group he lumps together as "liberals." What Limbaugh did with the words he lifted from the "original source" redefines and distorts them. The truth by letter and not by spirit. And his comment that "it would be refreshing and intriguing for a liberal to present those words with integrity and responsibility, but I'm not holding my breath" reflects the same sort of hypocritical thinking just presented by Limbaugh. It is he, and Limbaugh, who are taking words out of context and presenting them in a way to make the conservative hatemachine appear to be innocent victims. Isn't it obvious that certain conservative commentators regularly spew nasty distortions regarding liberals? All the while, they go to extremes to appear as victims. To me, dalosophy and Limbaugh are just 2 more examples of this fact.

Haggis is Against All Enemies (Cinematical)

Mar 17th 2006 12:41AM Patti, I would much rather have a president who's worst fault is some nookie in the oval office than a president who is responsible for the deaths of thousands based on false pretenses. I won't even begin to try to detail Bush's multitude of other immoral or inept actions in office, but most are worse, because they harm thousands or millions of innocent people, than improper sex. Its hard for me to believe how people lose perspective.
