Cell Phone Snooping Software Lets You Snoop on Kids, Spouses (Switched)
Oct 28th 2008 6:43PM I think this could be a very useful parenting tool and, like Bill, I would be up front with my children from the very beginning. They would absolutely know that I had installed the program and could review their cell phone activity at any time. It isn't any different than the internet reports most ISP's offer with their child safety feature.
Neither is it any different than parents of days past asking where their child was going to be, who they were going to be with - asking for phone numbers or if parents would be supervising parties, etc. If I asked to spend the night at a friend's house when I was growing up, my mother always spoke to that friend's parent before giving me permission.
And you know what? I never once thought felt that my privacy was being invaded or that I was being stifled. I really didn't even mind when she would occasionally "call to say good-night". I always felt protected & loved becaus honesty and communication were valued qualities in our home.
As for spouses using it - I would certainly hope mine trusted me enough not to waste his time installing something like this. But should he decide to do so, I have nothing to hide. That whole "trust" thing goes both ways - why would I care if he knew who I called? or texted? I'd probably end up telling him about it during dinner anyway - that's the "communication" part.
To determine whether or not this program is a good thing or a sneaky, evil tool, one would have to examine the user and in that case, an evil, sneaky person certainly doesn't need this particular tool to commit sneaky, evil deeds.
I guess if you've got something to hide, a tool like this could prove to be pretty scary.
Bruce Willis Knows How to Use the Internet(s) (Switched)
May 11th 2007 11:26AM It would seem that he was posting in a message boards, versus chatting in a chat room. Quite a difference, if you actually use either...or both.
Cedric Maxwell Prefers Bacon and Eggs to Pancakes (Updated) (Fanhouse NBA Blog)
Feb 28th 2007 11:06AM First things first. The female ref. did NOT write this commentary & we don't know how SHE feels about the comments at this point. So many previous comments are directed at her, as if it was HER point of view we were discussing here. It's not.
Secondly, I agree with the previous comment regarding "Cornbread's" ethnicity. If it had been a bad call made by a BLACK ref & the commentator had said "Get back in the cotton fields!" I can 100% GUARANTEE that there would've been a HUGE backlash, regardless of the commentator's skin color. But because the comment was directed towards a woman, it's all ok?
Sure, it wasn't the worse thing ever said & I'm sure we'll all "get over it" but we all know he wouldn't have gotten away with making derogatory comments like that regarding a person's skin color ... why is it ok to make them about a person's sex?
Accepting double standards only serves to demonstrate a superior lack of intelligence.
Forgetful mom leaves 1-month old alone in Sears for 90 minutes (ParentDish)
Apr 13th 2006 10:30PM The last thing an overly sleep deprived, new mother should be doing is shopping at Sears. The grocery store I can see...but clothes shopping at Sears? Just doesn't seem necessary...if she was actually sleep deprived.
I'm currently expecting my 4th child and I can say that I have NEVER forgotten any of them anywhere...I was single & alone with the first 2.
I was so overjoyed and awed by my newborns, I can't imagine just walking away from one. How does that happen?
There is definitely more to this than a sleep deprived new mother.
Abbotsford Estate, Estate of the Day (Luxist)
Mar 13th 2006 4:28PM One doesn't have to have $12.5 million dollars to recognize that this home is a definite patchwork of styles and lacks a great deal of focus. I, for one, would want something much less eclectic and scattered.(the only two words I can think of to communicate how I feel this home looks)
As for where I live, no, my personal residence is not valued at $12.5 million. If it was, I can absolutely guarantee you that it would NOT look like this. I would have put time and effort into creating a look & feel that flowed as you moved thru the home...or as your eyes moved over the exterior of the house.
If someone gave me this home, free, I'd take it. I'd use the instant equity and get to work fixing what didn't work for me. If I had $12.5 million to buy a home, there is NO WAY I'd spend it on this one. I'd start from scratch & build it to my specifications. (I'd bet my bottom dollar that the owner of this home went over their budget and is selling in an effort to recoup what they can get!)
For the readers who either directly, or indirectly, indicated that a negative opinion of this home was the equivalent of "jealousy"...open your mind.
You don't have fall in love with something just because someone tells you it's worth a lot of money. It's too easy to allow your opinions to be bought...dare to be MORE than that. Dare to think for yourself!
