Maddox Jolie-Pitt loves war {ParentDish}
Jul 2nd 2008 2:35PM What is the big deal?
We had guns growing up, BB guns, fake guns, cap guns, squirt guns and not one of us (nor my cousins) have ever picked up a gun to kill anyone.
I am a hunter (and female) that goes deer hunting which I love....my brother is a big deer hunter also. His 5 yr old son just received a .22 rifle for his 5th birthday.......used only under close supervision, taught the RIGHT way to handle a rifle/gun, then it is locked up when not used at the hunting camp.
My hubby is opposite, he and his brothers were NOT allowed to be near guns of any type growing up. No bb guns, no play guns, no cap guns.
Its all in the attitude you have about guns.
My cousin had a babysitter that got into my uncles guns. He accidentally shot one off while babysitting, putting a hole in the wall.
It could have been my then 4 yr old cousin!
My uncle was mad but he took that young boy babysitter out to the woods and showed him the PROPER way of handling a rifle and pistols. Spent a lot of time with him so he could learn safety and respect for firearms.
Now if I lived in the inner city somewhere where crime was rampant and my child had a gun I know I'd have a different attitude about guns........but I don't live there.
The young men in the crime ridden areas of the cities need to be taught that shooting someone is often THE END of the persons life......someone dies, death is forever and prison is not a place you want to be.
Hot Seat: McCain's War Record {Political Machine Blog}
Jun 30th 2008 1:08PM Fair game for McCain! It seems as if you say anything against McCain (or any other veteran) you are UNAMERICAN and UNPATRIOTIC.
BULL$HIT!
Just because you sacrifice a few years out of your life to join the military doesn't make anyone any better than anyone else.
Yes McCain did serve in Vietnam, more than GW Bush can say, someone who hid behind his daddy's $$$$$$$ but that doesn't make McCain anymore capable or experienced to run this country than GW Bush either.

Vacuum-Cleaner King James Dyson Plans Solar-Powered Car {Switched.com}
Jun 25th 2008 2:22PM If Dyson can revolutionize vehicles the same way he did vacuum cleaners.......we WILL be driving all electric vehicles.
The only problem? OPEC and the oil lobby along with all the other greedy people in government.
The SUN is FREE but watch and see if these greedy bastards don't try to CHARGE people for its use!
I'm SERIOUS!
In Brazil they only use sugar ethanol vehicles. Where are they getting those vehicles you might wonder? Chevy, Ford........Detroit could be thriving again. As I heard one reporter say, the largest OIL FIELD in the world is right there in Detroit. Build the cars and let people buy them.....the people will demand the govt get on the stick.
Ask yourselves why the CORN LOBBY won the hearts of this govt when the sugar lobby did not.
The corn lobby was wanting to make the mid-west its own 'Saudi Arabi' and produce millionaires.
What we need is for all the GULF STATES and SOUTHERN U.S. states to start producing more sugar cane, bringing prosperity to these hard hit regions.
Detroit can once again have JOBS and prosperity.
Factories around the US could OPEN and THRIVE once again....
We need to demand that our govt not allow our jobs to leave the United States of America. Any company that outsources jobs or imports foreign labor with HB1 visa's should be FINED so bad that it isn't worth leaving the country or giving our jobs to foreigners.
Bill Gates Leaving His Fortune to Charity, Not His Kids {Switched.com}
Jun 20th 2008 9:39PM Its THEIR money, they can do whatever they want with it!
They don't HAVE to leave their kids ANYTHING nor should their kids be standing over their wallets waiting for them to die so they can empty it anyway!
Everyone has the potential to become RICH if they get an education, work hard and do things the right way. I'm sure his kids aren't hurting either. They are probably getting a top notch education and all the perks of being the children of rich parents.
They are getting a hell of a lot more of a chance in this world than most people ever DREAM of getting.
I can't stand people that EXPECT to get something from someone for free. Nobody is ENTITLED to a damn thing unless they WORK for it.
I've seen kids of rich parents slack off and mooch off their parents while biding their time waiting for them to kick the bucket so they can get everything their parents EARNED.......having done absolutely NOTHING at all with their lives except wait for their parents to croak.
It makes me SICK.
Why should Bill and Melinda Gates give all their money to their kids when they can leave their money to charities that help hundreds of thousands of people instead? Why should they give it to a few kids when there are sooooooooo many others that need it so much more?
Good for the Gates! Its their money and they are free to do as they PLEASE with it. More power to them!
(and I'm sure their kids have already gotten all the money they'll ever need in this lifetime anyway)
Shouldn't we ALL try to leave this world a better place than we found it?
We can't keep taking from this world without giving something back.
Email blast: Nardelli tells employees sales will worsen {Autoblog}
Jun 19th 2008 5:26AM We bought 2 new vehicles a yr ago that get 35mpg each.
I am soooooooooooo glad we did it! I saw the writing on the wall last year and we traded our minivan off while it was still worth something!
Friends of mine bought a nice SUV for over 40K last yr they called the dealership and they were told it was worth 17K IF they wanted to trade it in.
How would you like to be that upside down on a 1 yr old vehicle?
Both of our vehicles together didn't cost anywhere near that amount AND we're getting great gas mileage.
Even better gas mileage now that we're STAYING HOME all the time except for essential errands and carpooling with the neighbor to the grocery stores, taking turns driving.
Last year it cost 25 bucks to fill my car, now its 40. Its a crock of sh*t if you ask me.
Cutting More Than Cake -- Wedding Party Becomes Melee {Asylum}
Jun 18th 2008 4:24PM OMG and I thought my sisters wedding was a WILD one?!
There were 3 fights, one lady was sliding across the dance floor after her dad punched her.........her dress up around her waist......another fight outside and another inside.
I was the bridesmaid and I was GONE by 9pm, it had gotten way too wild, so we went to the BAR instead. More fun at the bar and no fighting!
AMA: Ricki Don't Know 'Bout Birthin' No Babies {TMZ}
Jun 17th 2008 1:41PM My grandmother gave birth to 10 kids......9 at home, 1 in the hospital. My great grandmother had 10 children ALL born at home, my grandmother was the youngest.
19 of the 20 were born at home and survived. The only reason my uncle was born in the hospital was because it was the new 'in' thing at the time........a 'novelty'.
You can bet that the birth at the hospital was the LAST for my grandmother, it was horrible for her. She was confined to a bed, unable to get up and move around, and had to stay there 3 days after giving birth.........not a great thing when you had 9 other children at home!!
