Whole Foods drama continues: Unions join in fight against CEO (Daily Finance)

Aug 28th 2009 6:42PM I own WFMI stock, and I APPLAUD his strong and independent voice.
Independence, fearlessness, possessing integrity/ethics, and an ability to differ from the opinion of "the flock"...These are key elements in creating positive change in a dysfunctional system, and Mackey is a person who has, indeed, created incredibly significant/ positive change in consciousness with his Whole Foods chain. He's a visionary. Have a little faith.

Whole Foods drama continues: Unions join in fight against CEO (Daily Finance)

Aug 28th 2009 6:07PM Great article. And, I agree. Whole Foods shoppers (and I have been one myself for the past 20 yrs.) like to believe that they are smart and independent thinkers- setting a progressive agenda which, at root, involves respecting the integrity of each person, each plant, each animal, and our earth- while recognizing the integral interconnectness of all. Therefore organic produce (respecting the inherent wisdom in nature, and respecting our Earth), humane-sourced meat products (respecting animals as feeling, conscious beings, with as much a right to live a pain-free existence, as humans..), and a company which gives a huge percentage of its profits to its workers, and social causes, in general- aimed at a better, FREER, world for all.
The fact that there are a whiny bunch who can't tolerate "other-ness" (i.e, differing opinion, within a context of respect) speaks more to the embarassing immaturity of these people, than the Exec. of Whole Foods. Those with an "Us against Them" attitude- no matter which "side" they are shooting bullets from-
are an equally intolerant and immature bunch.
Ever hear the expression, "Don't throw out the baby with the bathwater?" It involves having the ability to see that a situation has more than one answer, and more than one question- and still honoring the inherent wisdom in the discrepancy, in the complex totality, and in the process of discovery. What all self-described "Progressives" should be able to do.

Worst Celebrity Blogs Ever (Switched)

Feb 3rd 2008 8:03AM The most vulgar, disgusting, and nasty people are apparently not Roseanne Barr but the people who are posting on this.
I am continually amazed and shocked at the vitriolic poison and downright hate that is so prevalent among so many of the AOL users here.
Its enough to make one feel very hopeless about the state of our society.
Don't you people know that the way you speak about others has little to do with the other person, and all to do about what's inside you.
Please, get some therapy instead of directing your hate towards others.
I'm so sick of others hatred stinking up our environment.

Gadget Silences Noisy Neighborhood Dogs (Switched)

Jan 16th 2008 4:57PM Let's invent a device, instead, that shocks the OWNERS of the dogs whenever their dog starts barking- as they obviously can't understand (DUH.) that their dog wants to come in the house.
Hell, let's just invent a device that shocks ignorant/stupid/cruel dog owners, in general, who leave their dogs alone on a chain all day, caring nothing at all about the animal that they supposedly love. These people should never be allowed to own an animal, period.

The Debriefing: If Vick's a Jerk, So Are Preakness Organizers (Fanhouse NFL Blog)

May 24th 2007 10:28AM Excellent, and thought-provoking column for those who walk around in a trance, closing their eyes to the violence we unknowingly perpetrate on other living beings.

It's about time that our "compassionate" culture walk their talk. Until there is humane interface- an awakened awareness of the respect that all living beings deserve- we are still a barbaric civilization. A violent society, concerned only with our desperate grasping for power (even if this means cowardly shows of asserting power over the helpless, like animals), and forms of entertainment which serve only to feed our narcisstic greed.

What a pitiful species we are.

Great article to wake us up.
Thanks for adding something thoughtful to AOL, not just inane entertainment gossip, and sensationalist garbage.

Omega-3s may affect mood, personality (Slashfood)

Mar 9th 2006 2:53PM Hi,

For further information about the benefits of Omega 3's (as well as other natural products and general info) I would highly recommend the Dr.Andrew Weil website. Here's the link below regarding specific usages and dosages.

http://www.drweil.com/u/QA/QA356000/

He recommends that if you take them in supplement form, to start with 1 to 2 grams per day. He also recommends that you make sure that you're taking a high quality form, one is distilled (to remove heavy metals). You can find these high quality supplements in health food stores, like Whole Foods.

Good luck!
