Did the lead character change that quickly into the story?

I think you meant, "Williams".

Editorial: Taking the iPhone 3GS off the job market (Engadget)

Jul 10th 2009 5:32PM I hear you Mr. Topolsky.

But let me ask you this: How many phones have you tried to "work" on? Every smartphone company I know markets their devices with a little bit of "be productive, get your work done" cliché thrown in, but do any of them really offer a viable solution to getting work done?

Aside from e-mail and calendars/to do lists, phones are a horrible way to work. The reason is because even on the most glorious smartphone there's still only 3 inches, at most, of screen real estate. That's not enough room. That's why you see most people who are trying to get something done away from the office with a laptop.

Editorial: Engadget on the Kindle DX (Engadget)

May 6th 2009 6:06PM "On the other hand, after a few months with the Kindle, I've basically given up on it -- it's just not as good as a real book, and that makes me wonder if students are really going to take to the DX when it hits colleges and universities."

Nilay,

If you're wondering whether there's a difference between using an electronic device while reading for leisure and reading for school. There is a huge difference. People are not going to use something that they aren't comfortable with for reading novels. But when it comes to 5-7 pound textbooks especially if you have 3 or 4 to lug around, I know I would gladly carry an electronic device around with the text on it.

Video: Taxpayer takes Chevy Volt's powertrain for a ride (Engadget)

Apr 29th 2009 10:42AM Even though Engadget would like to think so, electric cars are not going to gain 50% market share when the Volt comes out.

GM is going to have to do a whole lot more than build an electric car to stay afloat.

Sure, its romantic (to you) to think this car will be the savior but it's not logical.

Apr 8th 2009 4:57PM If Microsoft gave me money to go buy a laptop with and I got to keep what I didn't spend... ummmm... I would be just as happy as Lauren.
