Tom Samiljan has covered technology since 1994, when he became the first video game editor for the original CD-ROM version of Blender magazine. Tom then worked for Michael Wolff and Company, where he wrote up websites for the NetGuide series. As one of the launch editors of Time Out New York, he developed, edited, and wrote the weekly's technology section for four years. Tom was hired by Wenner Media in 1999 to write about tech for Men's Journal, Us Weekly, and Rolling Stone (where he remains a contributing editor).
More recently, Tom was the Tech Director at Cargo, where he oversaw monthly coverage of gadgets, video games, consumer electronics, and computers for the Conde Nast men's shopping magazine and website. Before joining AOL to launch Switched, Tom was the "Gadget Hound" for Yahoo! Tech, a daily blog-column on the latest gadgets and technologies. Tom has also written and edited for Popular Mechanics, Popular Science, New York, Details, Elle, Best Life, TV Guide, Res, Wired and men.style.com, among other publications.
