That was dumb. It didn't show at all why or how Blinky became murderous. As far as I saw, it was programmed to follow orders. It wasn't programmed to have emotion or take revenge or whatever. Or learn. Or do any of that. There wasn't any thing that caused the "switch" to make him murderous. It was stupid.

@pokekayodd Did you not watch the entire movie? He was programed to have a mind of his own and obey orders. And in a fit of rage, the kid told him to Kill his parents, kill him, and to kill everyone. You don't need murderous intent when you are programed to follow orders to the 'T'. And you can't forget about his 'crash'. Who knows what damage that did.
Personally, I thought it was great. Predictable twist, but it was pulled off superbly.

blinky is awesome!this movie is perfect. we as americans became fat and lazy!if the japenese make you will buy it.our car manufacturers already have robotic arms doing peoples work so they can screw hard working americans out of jobs, hell why not a robot that will play and watch your kids!how lazy are we? just ask the japenese!how stupid are we hell i can answer that one.how many of you people bought pet rocks and furbies, how many bought japenese and imported cars and not american cars?who do YOU support.this movie is perfect.it shows just how lazy kids and parents have become.sit watch tv,play video games while the parents sit and drink beer and eat chips.so BLINKY will be perfect for AMERICA!

Okay let me break down what I noticed. Yes he was told to kill him and his family but at the same time he was counting down and blinky finished that count down when he murdered alex. He then killed his parents because he was told to kill everyone so it's like a twisted game of hide and seek really.
How the cops didn't over power him but shooting at him is beyond me but I hate cliff hangers and want to know if blinky ever got stopped. :C

The human element may have been "the point" of the movie.
The families' dysfunction could not be cured by buying more stuff.
Their problems were the root of the childs outrage and then the robot becomes his instrument and his victim.

A dumb and pedantic storyline. I've seen 50-year-old Twilight Zone episodes with a fresher take on techno-dystopia than this thing.
And icepick-subtle plot devices aside -- who are the code monkeys the Blinky(TM) people hired that couldn't think ahead to hardwire a set of invalid commands into Blinky(TM)'s CPU? And what kind of legal department would allow a machine to be produced that would murder someone simply because you asked it to? And who the heck can't outrun a turkey-carving machine that for all I saw never wobbled along at a faster clip than 3mph?
I realize the killbot is basically a plot device, and I understand the concept of suspension of belief. But this thing is simply unintelligent. It didn't scare me; it aggravated me. The only reason I wasn't rooting for the robot in the end was that it just seemed too damn cold-hearted for me to go there.
