I believe in the power of information-the world is a better place when more information is available to more and more people; it's crucial to a functioning democracy. For me, there's no better place to get accurate, fresh information-well-reported information-than a newspaper.
Drowning in Beeps
Physicists, too, started to sense that the matter of the universe may be nothing more than the physical manifestation of information, that the most fundamental particles may be carriers and transmitters of messages. The bit, Gleick reports, could well turn out to be the basic unit of existence. The entire universe may be nothing more than "a cosmic information-processing machine."
