Last night, five members of Congress thought it would be fun to stage a trivia challenge against Watson -- the IBM supercomputer that
made the world feel stupid last month on 'Jeopardy!'. As it did brainiacs Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter, Watson absolutely bulldozed its Congressional competition -- with one notable exception. Rep. Rush Holt, a New Jersey Democrat, actually
defeated the machine by 2,400 points, as cheers of "Go Humanity!" rained down from the audience. It should be noted, though, that Holt happens to be a five-time 'Jeopardy!' champ. Oh, and he's a nuclear physicist, too.

Wish he would stick to game shows and get the hell out of NJ politics ! Same old progressive ( she uses this word as opposed to communistic ) tactics where we are taxed to death and bankrupt and with nothing left but a cesspool filled with illegals and corrupt politicians ! I speak withl knowledge as he is the congressman in my district !

@jdtucci9449 THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A FUN STORY.... UNTIL THE GRUMPY CONSERVATIVES HAD A CHANCE TO MAKE THIS AN ANTI-LIB STORY.

where is the e-mail ?
Thomas HoustonMar 1st 2011 7:11PM
@LINDA check your spam filter. The alert emails sometimes get caught in there.

Where is my first post and e-mail to confirm ? Must not have been left leaning enough for the censors. Probably the same censors that tore up Bush and the republican party for 8 long years !

did this guy have to use a buzzer also? that's why Jennings and Rutter were at somewhat of a disadvantage, the machine calibrated itself to buzz-in at exactly the right moment. if he didn't have to use a buzzer, then NO BIG DEAL
gwbrowncaMar 1st 2011 7:57PM
@Tom my thoughts exactly!? The congressman most likely had an equal chance to answer his question. I am sure that there was no buzzer that was used. I love that this makes headlines..... what a crock!!!

Yeah right! A congressman beats Watson? Nice story, but totally untrue like most media stories. Did anyone ask Watson: Does global warming cause snow blizzards? Another Liberal story that is so, so, so unlikely!
Wake up people! The media wants us only to believe their side, NOT THE TRUE SIDE!
NemephosisMar 1st 2011 7:17PM
lol. The story on the main page (before you click through to see the full story) ended at "defeated the machine by..." and my thought was that the next werds were going to be "unplugging it".

@Nemephosis *WORDS
Damned stupid typos... :(
Geeba77Mar 1st 2011 7:52PM
Now this is just what the libs needed... they can now claim they are the smartest people in the world because he beat a comp at trivia!!! BS!!! Hey, why don't they have the so-called "smartest president" (Obama) go head to head. LMAO.
Tom TMar 1st 2011 8:53PM
@Geeba77
Compared to Bush and Palin he's a genius.
wwdukemanMar 1st 2011 9:48PM
@Tom T Well compared to you, Bush and Palin are geniuses.
mssolangeMar 1st 2011 8:17PM
Everyone in NJ can beat Watson.

Whenever I start forgetting how ill Right-wingers really are, all I have to do is read some of these blogs. Go get a gall transplant, people!
vendelaveeMar 2nd 2011 8:59AM
No Republican politician would be able to beat the computer because they are not well rounded people. The could only answer questions about The Bible, Gun Laws, Abortion Laws, Military History, investing in the Stock Market, Tax Loopholes and Tax Cuts for the Rich and Corporations.

@vendelavee .... you nailed it. Well done........
