INQ Mobile's New Android Phones Feature Facebook, Spotify Integration
Yesterday, INQ Mobile unveiled a new line of Android phones that, at first glance, look like they might be the company's long-awaited 'Facebook phones' -- but they aren't. INQ's new 'Cloud' phone seems to revolve around two basic features: Facebook, and Spotify. On the home screen, users can scroll through all the images and videos in their visual news feeds, and instantly access Facebook Chat or Facebook Places with the click of an icon. Spotify, meanwhile, replaces the Android's default music player, for users who live in places where Spotify exists. The phones come in two models -- one with a keyboard, and another with a touchscreen.
In integrating Facebook so deeply within the Android platform, INQ is apparently looking to capitalize on a younger demographic of smartphone users who may be more likely to check their news feeds before checking their e-mail. "We want to do for the Facebook generation what BlackBerry did for the enterprise market," INQ Mobile CEO Frank Meehan told All Things Digital. "For someone under 30 this is the stuff you want to see all the time."
The new phones are expected to launch this April in the U.K., but unfortunately INQ has yet to make plans for a U.S. launch. Maybe having access to Spotify would help our case.
