Guitar Hero is No More

RIP Guitar HeroIt seems like it was only yesterday that 'Guitar Hero' took rhythm gaming to previously unseen heights and created a whole market of instrument-based gaming accessories. But in reality that was all the way back in 2005. In the ensuing years, 'Rock Band' has offered some stiff competition and the novelty of gaming with a plastic Gibson SG has worn off. All of these things may be true, but that doesn't make it any less shocking that Activision has decided to pull the plug on the series. The division of the company responsible for publishing the 'Guitar Hero' series has been disbanded and the 2011 installment has been canceled. After the unimpressive 'Warriors of Rock' we're sure nobody is going to be terribly upset about the death of the franchise, but we're pretty confident that Jack White is popping open a bottle of champagne. The end couldn't come quick enough for the series, as far as the famously Luddite performer is concerned.
