'Daily Show' and 'Colbert Report' Return to Hulu

'colbert report' on hulu
Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are coming back to Hulu after a nearly year-long absence. In a blog post, Hulu CEO Jason Kilar announced that his streaming company had reached a new agreement with Viacom, meaning that, as of today, 'The Daily Show' and 'The Colbert Report' will once again be available on Hulu, and Hulu Plus. The agreement will also allow Hulu to stream current episodes of shows like 'Jersey Shore,' 'Teen Mom 2,' and 'Tosh.0,' which will air 21 days after their initial televised broadcast. Hulu Plus subscribers, meanwhile, will eventually be able to stream archived episodes of 'Chappelle's Show,' 'Reno 911' and 'The Hills,' among others.

Viacom Chief Executive Philippe Dauman told the Wall Street Journal that his company originally decided to pull its shows from Hulu because "we didn't feel the revenue model was appropriate at that time." Now that Hulu has modified its subscription model, Dauman has changed his tune. "We're going to be getting both ad revenues and subscription fees," the exec said. "That's the kind of model that has worked well in the traditional universe, and one that we think is a positive trend in broadband."
