Switched Giveaway: Speck Netbook/iPad Case Makes Your Social Life Easier
Every day that we go to work, we have a dilemma. We must tote our most crucial instrument, our laptop, virtually everywhere, but what happens when the work day ends? Do we accompany associates for a drink, carrying a large bag we've scored from one of countless tech conventions? Do we use a briefcase, a messenger bag, a suitcase? Our laptop bags are not social-call-friendly; they're bulky eyesores that fit our MacBooks perfectly, but send us digging through the slim, restrictive pocket, rifling frantically for our subway pass, which has slid down the back of the bag, squashed between the battery of the 'Book and the ungiving fabric of the bag. Of course, any laptop bag that is actually large enough for our gadget as well as for whatever we need to live our lives as normal people is usually ugly. So, typically, we resort to bulky backpacks; what choice is there? At CES, we met up with the hip, perfectly designed products of Speck -- stuff to suit our phones and PCs that didn't make us want to claw our eyes out. With their rad prints, such as the trompe l'oeil china pattern, we especially like the Burton-designed iPod cases. (iPod cases? That we like? We were shocked!) And then there was the incredibly rugged PixelSkin. But the A-Line bag, a fabric, over-the-shoulder netbook holder that has all the features of modern living (e.g., iPod holder, myriad pockets, headphone pass-through for easy listening) and doesn't have that nylon, reflector-strip look that serves as a clear give-away you just came from work. The purple contrast interior adds a flash of color, and the single-button flap keeps things clean and minimal. The A-line shape, narrow at top and flared at the bottom, is classic but still elegant, like the skirt that shares its shape.
If you want one this minute, head over to Speck, where they are a reasonable $59.95. The generous return policy lets you try it on, model it for your cat, and, if you don't like it, send it back. We liked the bag so much we begged for one of our own -- but we decided that it'd be way cooler to pass it off to you guys. So, enter to win the cool carry-all here. The next time you are off to have drinks after work, you'll look frustratingly put-together, and your pals with stiff Timbuk2s and Jansports will wonder how you had time to stop home and change satchels. Trust us; your briefcase, hobo bag or messenger from college will never miss you.

My favorite gadget is my iPad. It's much more portable than a laptop/netbook but so much better than my iPod Touch as far as readability.

I am an IPod Touch fan who is planning to upgrade to IPad for the larger screen and "keyboard" feature. Here's hoping IPad becomes my new favorite...

I know it's cliché, but my favorite gadget is definetly my iPhone. It's easy for me to carry (and not lose), and holds valuable information (most of which I could not live without).

Looking for a good tote for iPad. I've had good luck with Speck products in the past.

my favourite gadget is my iPhone 4 because it lets me do whatever I want, when and wherever I want. It's basically my computer.

Going against the norm and saying the Sony NEX-5... It's essential DLSR quality in the size of a point-and-shoot. It just means I can take it everywhere easier. But I like photography.... Only if the iPad had REAL Photoshop, I have yet to find something sufficient. Editing photos on a touchscreen like that would be certainly fun.

Its a tie between my Samsung Captivate and my new Nook Color, between the two I have a happy android universe that does everything I need.

Favorite gadget? My Asus original eeePC netbook.
That's right: an XP-running, 9"-displaying, 8 GB of harddrive goodness that I can throw at a wall and still count on to run smoothly.
Do I need a lovely bag to put it in?
Yes. Yes I do.

So the strangest things I've been known to (always-cum-sometimes) carry with or on me might include a Nook of a book currently read, a hardcopy of that same book (5 pages behind & with a small tiny moleskine somehow attached to it for various never-to-be-read notes, thoughts, or random sensorial stimuli). Anything that will produce an iPhony music would be there along with a white Teddy Bear named Aloysius (who's been behaving rather badly these days).
