'Nassau's Nasty List' Facebook Page Pulled
Facebook has removed a controversial page from its platform, at the request of Long Island school officials. The page, titled "Nassau's Nasty List," reportedly served as an online forum for salacious rumors about specific female students at Uniondale High School, and provided detailed information on alleged sexual dalliances. As news of the page spread to other schools in the region, more users began adding rumors to the list, and the comments became increasingly mean-spirited. Eventually, Uniondale school officials caught wind of the page, and notified local police. "Although the district does not have jurisdiction over students' actions outside the school or on social networking sites, administrators notified the authorities and reported the page to the site to have it removed," reads a statement from Uniondale's Superintendent Dr. William K. Lloyd.
Police say they still don't know who's responsible for the page, and have yet to file charges against any suspects. They are, however, conducting interviews with students and potential victims in the area, and, if necessary, may subpoena Facebook to obtain the name of the person who created the list.

So they don't have jurisdiction over what the students do outside school, but they intruded on that anyway because they didn't like what they saw. That's really great, actions to be proud of for sure.
