FBI Requests Arizona Shooting Suspect's Messages on MMO Board
The Wall Street Journal reports that the FBI has requested 131 messages written by Jared Loughner on the Earth Empires gaming message board. Like many other documents and testimonies recently brought to light, some of the messages help to paint a picture of Loughner as both psychologically tortured and socially wanting. (He began threads with headings like "Would you hit a Handy Cap Child/Adult?" and "Does anyone have aggression 24/7?".) "The relationships that players form through hours of cooperating and communicating online can turn into online support groups," the Wall Street Journal reports. "Alex Montanaro, a friend of Mr. Loughner in real life and in gaming forums, said Mr. Loughner generally was more interested in the social outlet the forums provided than in playing the game itself."
