With Verizon poised to take a big bite of its smartphone market share, AT&T has decided to slash the price of the iPhone 3GS. The company is currently selling the smartphone for $99, but, beginning Friday, both new and existing customers will be able to purchase it for just $49. (The iPhone 4 is still selling for $299.) The obvious downside, however, is that buyers will be locked into a two-year plan... with AT&T.

Well, it’s not surprised to see the price drop… and kind of surprised to see it come as late as it did.
Maybe just a good gift to the kids this holiday.

Why are you saying having AT&T is the down side? I have a 3gs with them and have never had a moments problem.

I just got the 3GS for $49.... It looses it's bars,goes back an forth to edge ,I have also noticed the screen is terribly bright!!!will there be a fix for this I'm tired of dishing out money for the product to not work as should, Sincerely,addrianna jones and please get back to me asap I am very upset I am by far loaded with money I have 6 children so when I get something it better work properly.thank you

Please some one out there tell it like it really z who knows (who I'm sure works for apple) it's not right to screw with someone I have a pretty good feeling that unless apple fixes it's mess ups their pockets are gonna start showing this is "the show me state" y'all got to show me!!!!
