Kobe Bryant to Star in 'Revolutionary' New Facebook Game
It looks like Kobe Bryant is taking his talents to Facebook. According to a press release from social gaming publisher 6waves, the prickly Lakers star is set to star in a "revolutionary" new game from Endemol USA -- although it's still not clear whether said game will involve basketball.6waves says Bryant will serve as the "inspiration and focus" behind the new game, and that he'll have a hand in the development process. The company also says that the game could involve integrations with Kobe's Endemol-produced, online video series, 'Dream Makers,' and that players will have the opportunity to win real prizes, including autographed memorabilia, and tickets to Lakers games.
It's difficult to imagine Kobe Bryant being featured in a game that doesn't involve basketball, but it may not be out of the realm of possibility, either. As All Facebook points out, basketball-themed games haven't really caught on with Facebook users in the way that social games like 'FarmVille' and 'Mafia Wars' have. Endemol could easily see this gap as an untapped market, or as a blatant sign that social gamers just aren't into the NBA. Either way, Kobe promises that the new game will bring "unprecedented entertainment programming" to Facebook. Fortunately for all of us, he didn't mention anything about rapping.
