Chinese Students Throw a Rockin' Robot Extravaganza

robot dance
China might not openly celebrate certain forms of technological freedom, but the nation certainly knows how to throw a free-wheeling, frivolous tech fiesta. This week, China's Zhejiang Province hosted a monumental robot contest, which pitted 115 different teams and their diverse crews of 'bots against one another.

The teams represented 50 different schools, and the budding engineers reportedly provided an incredible array of clever creations, including basketball-bots and "intelligent trash cans." Most impressive, though, was the noble youngsters' update of a tired dance trend. It may be pretty (no, extremely) annoying when humans bust out "the robot" dance, but those moves are definitely still entertaining when performed by actual robots -- particularly if it's a coordinated electric robo-slide. Now, we just need to find the video.
