'Super Mario Bros.'
recently turned 25-years old, and the birthday gifts keep coming in. One Spanish neighborhood has given the iconic hero an impressively geeky present that may be the first of its kind: an entire street. During an elaborate public ceremony, the planned community of Arcosur, Spain
officially unveiled the 'Avenida de Super Mario Bros.' Along with the expected costumed spectators, the gamer gala featured a violin and cello duet, to which you can geek out after the break. (The set list should be evident.)
But 'Super Mario Bros. Ave.' won't be the only nerdy lane in Arcosur, either. Streets will also reportedly be devoted to 'Sonic the Hedgehog,' 'Space invaders' and 'The Legend of Zelda.' The town is primarily intended for people under 35, so the video game streets definitely seem relevant and appropriate. Now Arcosur just needs to make the fire hydrants look like little green warp pipes.
