Just in time for the holidays, Gibson
will release one of the world's most high tech guitars. According to Ubergizmo, the Firebird X
features automatic tuning and Bluetooth-enabled, wireless pedal switching. (It's worth mentioning that the Gibson Robot Guitar was
the company's first guitar that could tune itself.) Along with those features, the Firebird X -- which will be available as part of a limited run, starting December 11th -- sports an eleven-position, built-in rotary knob built for running through effects like reverb, distortion, echo, compression, modulation and EQ. You can also mix the signal strength of each effect, and switch between pickups.
Gibson has not announced a price for the guitar yet, but don't expect it to come cheap. The name Gibson is synonymous with high prices (and to be fair, excellent craftsmanship), but any guitar with all this built-in technology will be expensive. In fact, it might be cheaper to just hire your own guitar tech.
