Pretending iPod is Phone, 12-Year-Old Foils Kidnapper
A 12-year-old girl in Delaware successfully avoided the clutches of a potential kidnapper last week -- not with fists of fury or a can of mace, but with her iPod. The girl was reportedly approached by the suspected predator in front of a local middle school, where she was waiting for a ride. According to ABC News, the man pulled up next to her in a white van, and bluntly told her to "get in the van." Instead of heeding his order, though, the girl coolly pulled out her iPod, and held it up to her ear. She told the man she was calling the police, and he immediately fled the scene. Police are now on the lookout for the suspect, described as a white male between the ages of 35 and 45, with dark hair. If you have a tip, call Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.

I've actually gotten a lot of people to stop following me just by looking at them, turning away and slowly putting my hand into my pocket. What they thought I was doing I can't really say, but they already seem to decide to walk in another direction.
