Halloween Games! Aim For the Head in Flash Game 'The Last Stand 2'

Ah... Halloween. We embrace our spooky sides by filling our October nights with horror, donning our black capes and, of course, playing as many terrifying video games as possible. (Don't you?) While we can't deny the appeal of monster mainstays like 'Frankenstein' and 'Dracula,' our horror tastes lean towards the brain-munching variety. So join us as we indulge in our love of Halloween by blasting shambling hordes of reanimated corpses with this week's crop of zombie-themed Flash games.

Combining elements of action, resource management and tower defense, 'The Last Stand 2' adds up to a blood-drenched gore-fest of Flash game goodness. In the midst of a full-on zombie apocalypse, you must travel from city to city, attempting to make it to an evacuation point within a 40-day time limit. Along the way, you'll pick up survivors, weapons and traps, all of which will be crucial for staving off waves of the famished undead. The game is split up into several sections; the recurring segment is similar to the tower defense classic 'Plants Vs. Zombies,' albeit with an action twist. As zombie hordes advance from the left side of the screen, you'll have to pick them off before they destroy your defensive barrier. Luckily, you're not stuck in one spot; you can move and aim freely with the WASD keys and mouse, respectively. In between these action segments, you're presented with a map of your current location, where you can expend a limited amount of man-hours searching for weapons, survivors and supplies. Any uneaten humans you find will help you out in battle, as will the plethora of weaponry and explosive traps scattered throughout the game. You'll have to make sure to keep moving on the game-world's map, though, as lingering in any one city for too long may cause you to miss your only chance of escape. Our advice for all you desperate zombie hunters? Just shoot 'em in the head.
