Halloween Games! 'Mad Max' Meets the Living Dead in 'Road of the Dead'

Take one heavily armored hot rod, a gang of flesh-eating zombies, and the cartoonish gore of 'Metalocalypse,' and you have the glory of automotive terror that is 'Road of the Dead.' This is a game that satisfies our dual desires to drive fast and kill the undead, and you'll do plenty of both. Your goal is to flee the city, which means flooring it down a highway teeming with zombies and frightened civilians. To compound your troubles, you must contend with the military, which seems more concerned with stopping you than the the monsters you're out to kill. The controls require some finger twisting as you maneuver your car with the WASD keys and frantically tap the keyboard to activate a plethora of power-ups. Racing through the streets will earn you "RP," which upgrades your character and your car. From quicker handling to better body armor, these boosts make a world of difference. Taking a cue from the zombie-gaming staple 'Dead Rising,' Road of the Dead allows you to replay levels again and again, until you've upgraded yourself enough to make it through to the next checkpoint. Road of the Dead is not only a glorious game, but a gruesome new twist on the meaning of "roadkill."
