Thief Steals $140 Worth of Fake Goods From Facebook Gamer's Fake Home

What's more pathetic than buying a bunch of fake furniture for your fake Facebook apartment? Stealing the "furniture" from someone's said "apartment." That's exactly what one hacker did to Paola Letizia, a 44-year-old Italian woman and perhaps overzealous 'Pet Society' gamer.

After working his way into Letizia's e-mail and Facebook accounts, the hacker turned his attention to her virtual Facebook apartment, and proceeded to steal all of the digital items from her commodious, seven-room abode. Italy's postal police, for some reason, are now looking for the suspect, who could face up to five years in prison for what the Metro calls "aggravated entry."

Letizia's belongings may have been virtual, but they certainly weren't cheap. In total, the woman had shelled out about $140 for all of the furniture, clothing and gifts that the burglar swiped. Money, of course, can be replaced, but these make-believe belongings apparently contained uniquely sentimental value. "I don't think it matters that the flat only exists in Facebook," Letizia explains. "It is real to me, and I have suffered a real loss."

Luckily for the gamer, though, the burglar decided to leave one item behind: a digital pet, named 'Blue Cat.' That's great for Letizia, but potentially devastating for Blue Cat's self-esteem.
