'Phage Wars 2' is a Free Flash 'Pokemon'-Battle... in Petri Dishes

If laboratory science is as action-packed as 'Phage Wars 2' makes it out to be, perhaps we've gone into the wrong field. The game puts you into the shoes of a lab tech who must create the world's most powerful virus, pitting a pet pathogen against other viruses, 'Pokemon' style. Battles, or "experiments" as the game calls them, are waged in petri dishes. (Ed. Note: Like in real life!) To fight, you must use your mouse to direct your virus in conquering neighboring cells while competing against your enemy. Full of fast-paced, strategic action, Phage makes you maintain your captured cells and stage sieges against enemy-held ones. Successful battles yield new genes which can be spliced into your virus to make it faster, stronger and more agile, adding a clever customization aspect to the game's solid combat. Phage Wars 2 goes the extra aesthetic mile by presenting itself as a faux lab computer, complete with informational windows, README files and analysis programs to run.
