Libya Shuts Down Porn Links and Scares Mitt Romney, Ryan Trecartin Talks About Riverthe.net

homepage for now-defunct vb.ly
Here are a few of the other noteworthy things we saw today on our never-ending journey through the wild, wild Web.
  • Maybe you heard about how Libya deleted that sexy URL shortening site Vb.ly? (It was like Bit.ly for porn links, but conservative Libya owns the .ly domain and wasn't into all the boobs -- or the pic of the site creator drinking a beer.) Well, conservative-in-a-not-so-different-way Mitt Romney realized that his Mitt.ly shortener was also under the control of evil Libya, and will be changing it to just Mi.tt -- the province of Trinidad and Tobago. • Okay, we know that we just wrote about Moleskine's new iPad case, but we're totally not shilling for Moleskine! With that out of the way, let us present Moleskine's new stop-motion promo video for its Pac-Man line of leather-bound notebooks, in honor of the game's 30th anniversary. Adorable! [From: Buzzfeed]
  • ArtFagCity's Paddy Johnson sat down with artist Ryan Trecartin to talk about Riverthe.net, his new quasi-random video site developed in conjunction with Tumblr's David Karp. It's kind of like Chatroulette, kind of like Dump.fm, but not really either; you're moved through 10-second-or-less videos based on three tags assigned by the vid's uploader, all in full screen and with no real controls. Read the full interview at the link, and check out Riverthe.net at its temporary home here. [From: ArtFagCity]
