Best Buy Wants $30 to Turn on Your PlayStation 3, Press a Button
This sign was found in the Best Buy on Staten Island (the same store where your writer has laughed in the faces of sales reps on several occasions). Over there on the right is an offer for a 120GB PS3 Slim for $329.98. The problem? The list price for that console is $299.99. The only explanation is that the extra $30 is being charged because this device has had its "firmware updated." Of course, upgrading your PS3 firmware to, as the sign advertises, "Play all Blu-Ray movies & PS3 games" and eliminate "bugs and glitches," is as simple as either turning on your console and selecting "OK" when alerted to the update, or selecting "system updates" from the system menu.In other words, there's nothing new or shocking here.
