Twitter Tops MySpace in Traffic, We Yawn
Well, it looks like MySpace's makeover hasn't done a lot to slow its inevitable slide into online obscurity. According to the Wall Street Journal, Twitter has now surpassed the once-popular social network in unique visitors, cementing its position as the third most popular social network in the world. According to data from comScore Inc., the site received almost 96 million unique hits last month, marking a 76-percent increase from the same month last year. MySpace, on the other hand, suffered a 17-percent decrease in visitors over the same period, falling to 95 million unique hits last month. Both sites, of course, have a long way to go until they catch up with Facebook, which enjoyed a 54-percent growth spurt in unique visitors during August. But with Twitter's new redesign expected to attract even more visitors in the next few months, it doesn't look like MySpace will catch up to either competitor anytime soon. As long as Papa Murdoch continues to write the checks, though, it may not even matter.
