How to Turn Off Gmail Conversation View

We heard back in June that Google planned on adding a "normal" view to the always innovative Gmail. The service that introduced many people to the idea of threaded e-mail is now making one of its defining features optional. Starting today, users can open their settings, and find an option for "conversation view." Turning it off will make Gmail behave more like an e-mail client circa 1999, meaning that messages will be displayed individually in reverse chronological order. While some haters of the threaded Gmail view (read: crazy people) claim the classic layout makes it easier to identify new messages, we just think it adds clutter and makes tracking long conversations (especially ones with multiple participants) a huge pain. As with most Google products and features, "normal" view will be rolling out to users over the next several days.
