This is one reason the average person can't afford to go to a NASCAR race any more. This, and Smiths blunder with the 4 lane drag strip that NHRA will only use two of the four lanes, what a joke.

@(verified) Yeah, but it takes light 8 minutes to get here from the sun. So, you could put a mirror the same size as that screen half way between here & the sun. Light takes 4 minutes to get that far & four minutes to come back. You could watch the re-play for real and see back into time. How about that ?... Al-

That's bigger than my property, which is pretty big @ 1/3rd of an acre so this thing must be huge. 160 feet by 100 feet must be close to the size of it but that must take a humongous draw of power..

This is why the average person can't afford to go to a NASCAR event any more. It's becoming a song and dance show instead of a race. This, and Smiths blunder with four wide drag racing that NHRA refuses to run on only two of the lanes. The four wide was a desaster.

@(Unverified) Along those same lines, I agree. Sun Life Stadium (Dolphin Stadium) in Miami has converted a few luxury boxes and turned them into a dance club, Did you come to watch football or dance? Why pay $20 bucks to park, then pay exorbitant prices for a ticket. Then you have to take a second mortgage to buy that soggy Cuban crap and a beer.

This "record" screen is only 780p, the screen at the Cowboy stadium is 1080p...sorry NASCAR.

Do the math: 16,000 square feet with 16:9 ratio means that width(height) = (x)(16x/9) = 16000, making the height of the TV 94.87 feet. Baffling that the display is 720p when any TV larger than 32" is 1080p, that would make each the side length of each single pixel (94.87/720) = 1.58 inches. Hopefully you won't get a seat right next to it.

@(Unverified) There is no reason for the screen to be 1080p. The screen is 193.51ft diagonally. Once you are a certain distance away from the screen, the human eye can't make out a difference between resolutions of 1080 and 720. The commonly accepted figure is somewhere between 1.5x and 3x the screen size (in this case 200 ft). The people this screen is meant for are on the front stretch while the screen is on the back stretch, which means they are over 1500ft away, 7x+ the difference to be able to discern between the resolutions. In the Cowboys stadium, people are MUCH closer to the screen so the extra resolution is needed.

The best seat in the house is still at home where the cameras take you up close to where the action is. And a lot cheaper.
garytheprinterSep 28th 2010 4:29PM
Now all you rednecks will feel like being at home watching TV and paying top dollar to smell gas fumes. God it's the American dream. Now the need to put recliners in the stands.
LEESep 28th 2010 4:30PM
the screen is for the fans what fans the seats are more empty now then ever before. nascar just is not the same. i switched to f-1. nascar is more about saying the sponsors name at any chance instead of racing.. helton rules with an iron fist. in f-1 you never hear sponsors name its about racing.

@(Unverified) Like, he pulled in to get 4 tires and fuel. O MAN, that's all wrong, It has to be, he pulled in for 4 GOODYEAR tires and SUNOCO fuel. The announcers are just as bad.
cedarmontkSep 28th 2010 4:29PM
Also you are not apt to be hit by any flying objects.
mikemaj82Sep 28th 2010 4:51PM
and it's not even 1080p? garbage.
wayneSep 28th 2010 5:37PM
what a waste of LEDs
AdamsmombettySep 28th 2010 5:23PM
If you think the TV is big...Wait until you see the remote control..
