iBGStar iPhone Glucometer Could Provide Unprecedented Aid to Diabetics

The company claims its iBGStar Blood Glucose Meter "seamlessly connects to the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch for the flexibility to manage your diabetes whenever, wherever." The glucometer, which can act alone or plug directly into the Apple gadgets, analyzes blood through Dynamic Electrochemistry. The relatively painless process (compared to other methods) only requires a small amount of blood, which can be collected by what Dr. Saxon describes as "a prick that can hardly be felt."
An upcoming iBGStar Diabetes Manager app will also provide even more features to users, including the ability to add exact data on injections, medications, dietary habits and exercise patterns. The service also allows immediate sharing with healthcare professionals, and provides customer support "for all your diabetes questions."
Approximately 20 million people in the U.S. currently suffer from diabetes (including a growing number of children), but with contact lenses, vehicle dashboards, implant "tattoos" and Nintendo peripherals that could soon alleviate the painful monitoring processes, the (not-too-distant) future truly looks promising.
