Google has made tracking the upcoming midterm elections a little easier with its
2010 U.S. Election Ratings map. The map breaks down rankings from outlets like Cook, Rothenberg, CQ-Roll Call, and RealClearPolitics (what, no Five Thirty Eight?) for senate, house and governor races in all their color-coded glory. Via the menus on the left, you can select your sources, and the races whose results you'd like to see. The map is easy enough to decode: the darker red being more reliably Republican, the darker blue being more staunchly Democrat, and the yellow being toss-up states and districts. Clicking on a district or state gives you the ratings from each source, and lists the candidates in the race.
It's a great tool for political junkies who want to quickly see what a number of different polling groups are predicting without visiting several sites. You can even easily embed the map in your website if you wish. We can only hope that, as the election season heats up, the Web will bring us even more fun and nerdy political tools. 'Tis the season!
