New Dad Uses MobileMe iPod Touch App to Track Missing iPad
When Curtis Codgill arrived at the Sacramento Airport to fly to Oregon, he came with his wife, his brand new son, and a brand new iPad. Only two of the three companions, however, actually boarded the plane with him. As the Sydney Morning Herald reports, Codgill had purchased his new iPad shortly after the birth of his son, but mysteriously misplaced it before getting on his flight. "Last time I remember seeing it was Sacramento Airport. I don't remember pulling it out on the plane," Codgill explains. Instead of panicking, though, Codgill whipped out his iPod touch, and used his MobileMe app to find the location of his runaway iPad. The app then tracked the iPad to Orlando, and even pinpointed its exact location at an airline terminal. "You can zoom all the way in, and can tell it was sitting where an airplane should be sitting at the terminal," the new father says.
After a little while, however, the iPad began migrating from the terminal, and eventually wound up at the home of a new Southwest employee. Codgill immediately contacted an airline supervisor, who subsequently notified local police. The iPad was ultimately retrieved, and shipped back to Codgill, safe and sound.
This isn't the first time that MobileMe has rescued an Apple acolyte in a pinch. Back in June, we told you about the epic tale of Eric Boehs, who, after losing his iPhone and iPad in the street, used the MobileMe 'Find My iPhone' service to track down his precious goods. While Codgill's crisis may not have been quite as tortuous as Boehs' iOdyssey, the proud father will certainly feel a lot better knowing that his son will be able to learn the alphabet on an iPad, as every baby should.
