'Plane Finder AR' Lets You Point Your iPhone Skyward to Track Airplanes

According to BoingBoing, however, the $2.99 app seems to work exclusively for planes with ADS-B equipment, and can be used only in places where the developer already has feeds to pick up on a plane's signals. So far, Australia is the only country with full ADS-B coverage, while U.S. carriers have been relatively slow to adopt the equipment. Considering how hypersensitive American authorities are when it comes to airline security, though, it's probably in the developer's best interest to keep this app far away from U.S. soil, anyway.

I think this is an overall bad idea. Imagine what could be done with that.

@PeteC1 I'm curious to know what exactly you think could be done with this information? As far as I am concerned, absolutely nothing. What exactly do you find 'bad' about this?
If a terrorist wishes to gain information about what aircraft is overhead at a given time, this information was ALREADY freely available to the general public.
It's easy to be sensationalist about new developments in technology (in this case information already available for years is being portrayed now in a different way - as part of an iPhone app) but there is nothing 'bad', 'dangerous' or 'new' about this.
If someone wants to do damage, an app for the iPhone isn't going to be the tool that allows them to carry it out.
