Facebook's 'Not Now' Friend Request Option Makes It Easier to Be Indecisive

According to Inside Facebook, the social network is rolling out a new 'Not Now' request option, by which you can send questionable friend requests to a separate, 'Hidden Requests' list. You can take as much time as you want to issue your verdict, and the person asking for your hand in Facebook friendship will see only that he or she is 'awaiting friend confirmation.' And, in the event that you ultimately decide to refuse the offer, you can tell the social network that you don't know the person, and instantly block him or her from trying to friend you in the future.
Facebook says the new feature is aimed toward limiting relentlessly aggressive friend requests, by giving members greater control over who knocks at their doors, and how many times they can do so. Choosing to take no action, of course, will still keep the hounds at bay, but the site's new option should go a long way toward clearing away some of those creeper cobwebs from your homepage.

Don't really understand any of these changes in the way friend requests are made. It used to be Accept and Reject, and some time last year they changed the latter to "ignore".
No matter what changes, every friend request has the same four possible outcomes: accept, withhold (not I guess called "Not now"), reject, and the most scathing of all, blocked.
