If you've ever wished you could star in your own reality TV show, you'll probably be intrigued by the
Looxcie (pronounced look-see). This wearable camcorder fits over your ear much like a Bluetooth headset, but actually makes you seem even
more self-absorbed than strutting around with a hands-free headset does. The cam can record four hours of video at a lowly
480×320 at only 15 frames-per-second, which will remind many of the early (jerky and pixelated) days of the webcam. Pressing the instant clip button quickly captures 30 seconds of video, and transfers it, via Bluetooth, to the companion Looxcie mobile app, where it can be instantly shared through e-mail, Facebook or YouTube. The app can even be configured to upload "instant shares" automatically. The Looxcie even acts as a hands-free headset, and allows you to take calls while you record.
For the moment, the app is only available on
Android, but the company expects to have versions for BlackBerry,
iOS and some flavor of mobile Windows (although it isn't clear whether it's WinMo or WP7). The Looxcie will be on
sale soon for $199 at Amazon.
