'Angry Birds' Players Can Now Pay for the Mighty Eagle

Artificial intelligence and dynamic difficulty adjustment bestow impatient gamers with the ability to progress through levels without personally accomplishing (or playing) anything. Tapping into that short attention span demographic, the manufacturers of 'Angry Birds' now hope to capitalize on helpless and obsessed players with a new Deus Ex Machina device.

Disguised as an 'Angry Birds' character, Rovio Mobile's fledgling Mighty Eagle reportedly serves as "a silver bullet to solve all your problems in one shot." Frustrated and grounded players can enlist the Mighty Eagle's aid "to clear any one level instantly." Following the financial lead of competitor Zynga, Rovio charges a fee for the services of Mighty Eagle, though, because "in-app [purchasing] capabilities provide a remarkable opportunity to provide extraordinary content to our most engaged customers." (Translation: You addicted suckers will buy anything.)
