Sakshat, the Laughed-At $35 Indian Tablet, Reportedly Set for Early 2011 Launch

The Indian Human Resource Development committee plans to unveil the gadget, priced at a paltry and incredibly enticing $35, on a pretty cool date for numerologists: January 11th -- or 11/1/11 by Indian standards. HCL Technologies reportedly owns the contract to develop the device, and the company hopes to initially release 1 million 7-inch models, each of which will be equipped with Android OS, 2 GB of RAM memory, Wi-Fi capabilities, a camera and a USB port. Reportedly, 5-inch and 9-inch units are to come. The cynics and naysayers will undoubtedly disparage the device or doubt its actualization. With some U.S. tablets commanding as much as (or more than) a home mortgage, though, we'd gladly drop $35 -- just for a chance to reserve one.
