Reggie Bush Sends Fans on Social-Media Scavenger Hunt For Balls

Reggie Bush gives stuff away via social-networking sites.
To celebrate the 2010 NFL season's kickoff (and to deflect attention from the NCAA sanctions he brought on his alma mater USC), Reggie Bush is giving away free stuff via social-networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare and Stickybits. Reggie Bush #RedZones, which began earlier this week and ends today, leads fans on a scavenger hunt for eight autographed footballs hidden across the city of New Orleans. An autographed ball is dropped at a location, and a Twitpic of its general vicinity is posted. To aid in their search, scavengers can also see Foursquare check-ins posted to Twitter. If those clues aren't enough for the Who Dat? nation, Bush's Facebook page serves as a central "location" for folks to post and share clues, and discuss the whereabouts of these prized balls. If you missed out on finding one (or don't live in the Crescent City), Stickybits allows users to scan a barcode and post a photo, video or message that professes your love for Reggie -- with the best one receiving a signed ball.

This campaign made eight Saints fans happy, but for the rest of the NOLA nation, a return to the playoffs and another Super Bowl victory would do more for Bush's public image than a gimmick.
