Google Logo Celebrates Birthday with Bouncing Balls

Google Bouncing Balls
Google is approaching the end of its pre-teen years. Today, the world's largest search company (which isn't really a search company anymore) turns 12. And, as with most holidays and special occasions, Google has swapped out its standby homepage logo for a celebratory variation. Whereas most festive swaps (Pac-Man's birthday excluded) are simply images, today's page is decorated with a Google logo created entirely in HTML5 and CSS3, two technologies heralded as the future of the Web. The logo consists of a bunch of balls arranged to spell out "Google" in the familiar primary hues. But, move your cursor near the doodle, and the balls will be repelled and dance around the screen.

The balls are fun to watch as they ricochet across your monitor before finally settling down to reveal the Google logo yet again, but they quickly get distracting -- almost as distracting, in fact, as browsing the whole history of Google logo doodles, which you can do here. (Note: Don't click on the link unless you have nothing to do for the next hour.)
