'Duke Nukem' Redone: Re-Experience This Classic on Your Browser

As much as we love new gaming experiences, sometimes we hanker for the classic games of our distant youth. Luckily, many of these can be revisited in browser-based iterations. This week, we'll take a look at timeless classics -- like Monday's 'Pac-Man' or yesterday's 'Lemmings' -- that are always worth wasted productivity. If you haven't played these in a few years, or if (heaven forbid) you've never undertaken them, then what are you waiting for?

While eponymous main character Duke may be better known for his classic first-person shooter 'Duke Nukem 3D,' or for its vaporware sequel 'Duke Nukem Forever', he began his career in this entertaining side-scroller for PC. The game's expansive levels are well designed for its era, giving players a large playing field in which to blast robotic enemies, collect power-ups, and, most importantly, amass massive amounts of points. The controls are simple, the arrow keys dictating movement, the 'Ctrl' key jumping, and the 'Alt' key blasting Duke's laser gun. 'Duke Nukem' is fun and addictive, but we recommend that players turn down the volume on this one, as the game's screeching sound effects drove us to the brink of teeth-gnashing insanity.
