Glenn Beck Launches TheBlaze.com, 'News and Opinion' About the World and Glenn Beck

Describing its content as "original reporting, insightful opinions and engaging videos," the site -- which launched last night and seems to have pulled some of its design from The Daily Beast -- is, right now, mostly full of news about Glenn Beck (and a top story that we reported in November). Among the Beck-centric articles was a link to a piece by New York Times conservative op-ed columnist Ross Douthat, who is probably the only person on the Times' payroll that would ever pen the words, "I'm beginning to think that I underestimated the man."
Taking a break from waxing lyrical about the symbolism of the The Blaze ("The image of flame is a powerful [sic]. It has long stood for a burning truth."), Beck goes on to say in his 'Message from Glenn' post that "[too] many important stories are overlooked." Those "overlooked" stories include three articles about the entirely under-reported Park51 project, a.k.a. the Ground Zero Mosque, which no one's ever heard about.
Beck also says that "too many times we see mainstream media outlets distorting facts to fit rigid agendas," and yet he bills his coverage as "news and opinion." We're perfectly fine with Beck's flavor of alarmist journalism when it's clear that Beck does, like many of the most powerful media pundits today, have a solid agenda and an opinion. In fact, only two of the current stories on the Blaze homepage -- airline profits and bedbug infestations -- don't fit in with the partisan squabble over Islam, welfare, climate change and racism. Go for it, Glenn! Shore up your media takeover, but at least be honest about your intentions. After all, this is the man who is so often lauded for speaking his mind, regardless of the consequences.

As a tech site, you really don't have to comment on politics or white people in general. Your little spat on Glen Beck shows that there really are two year olds who know how to use a computer.
