In-Game Tweet Costs Chad Ochocinco a Cool $25K

Chad Ochocinco Apologizes For Tweeting
In September of last year, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco voiced his displeasure with the NFL's decision to prohibit the use of social media like Twitter immediately before, during and after games. Apparently, Ochocinco has decided that he isn't going to let pesky little rules get in his way, though. The avid Tweeter and Ustream user has already received his first fine of the year, and the season isn't even underway yet.

Ochocinco posted two messages on Friday, August 20th, just before and during a pre-season game against the Philadelphia Eagles. The specific rules demand that players refrain from tweeting -- from 90 minutes before kickoff until their post-game media obligations are fulfilled. As punishment for flagrantly violating those rules, the wide receiver was slapped with a $25,000 fine -- or, in professional athlete terms -- pocket change. The six-time Pro Bowler did apologize, via Twitter of course, and vowed not to do it again.
