Teen Channels Steve Jobs, Makes $1M in Two Years With Web Start-Up

Teen's company earns $1-million by the time he's 16-years-old.

While his classmates probably admired comic book heroes and professional athletes, Christian Owens, a U.K. teen, looked up to somebody real -- Steve Jobs -- and it paid off for him. According to SWNS, taking inspiration from the Mac magnate, Owens made his first $1 million in just two years by creating two wildly popular Web start-ups. He got a Mac, learned basic Web design, and started his first company, Mac Bundle Box, at the tender age of 14. The site sold a bundle of Mac OS X applications typically valued around $400 for about $50, thanks to Owens's knack for negotiating an initial discount with developers. As more people bought the bundle, Owens made more apps available, and word spread like wildfire. Next, Owens used his profits to launch another venture called Branchr, a pay-per-click advertising company that places about 300 million ads per month on about 17,500 websites and apps, for both iPhone and Android. This latest venture has earned $800,000 in its first year, and has eight adults in the U.S. and U.K. (including his mom) on the payroll.

We might have missed out on our chance to become a teen millionaire, but we've learned our lesson. When we have a kid, he or she will get a Mac and a book on HTML for his or her 14th birthday. Consider it a retirement plan. [From: SWNS, via: Gizmodo]
