Watching Twitter tonight has taught me one thing, Phillies fans are a bunch of whiny dicks. But it's ok, every tank needs a bottom feeder.

Both Google and Facebook have the same challenge - they need to mine users' information in order to deliver targeted ads to them. This creates an inherent conflict for users. They like the service, but then have to pay for it with their privacy.
Some startups such as CloakGuard.com, are addressing this issue by letting users continue to use services like Google and Facebook, but still preserve their privacy. This done by letting users easily encrypt the private portions of their postings and emails right from their browser. This works independently of both Facebook and Google privacy settings.
Users select the part of their posting or email that you want to keep private, pick a keyword and encrypt it. Only people who have been given the keyword can read the CLOAKed parts of your postings.
CloakGuard offers a free Firefox plugin as well as a free online version that does not require a software download.
