Armed With CTA Weaponry, PS3 Finally Gets the Assault Rifle It Deserves

Nintendo, of course, pioneered light gun gaming with the epochal 'Duck Hunt' and the somewhat forgettable Super Scope. In the '90s, though, Sony adapted the addictive 'Time Crisis' arcade series for the PlayStation, giving birth to a new generation of light guns and gaming.
That franchise and its Guncon armament remain with the PlayStation 3, but the advent of Move technology has quickly attracted a host of competitive accessory suitors, including the renowned and infamous peripheral masters from CTA Digitial. According to a CTA press release, the company now hopes to arm Sony's "serious gamers with the right accessory for realism and excitement" with the "first of its kind" Assault Rifle Controller (ARC). The ARC reportedly emits a variety of gunfire sound effects, features both a removable scope and stock, and apparently works with 'Call of Duty' and "all other shooter games."
While the device's true effectiveness and desirability will be revealed by actual gameplay, the ARC is definitely an exciting reversal for CTA, whose add-on reputation was unfortunately tainted by those ridiculously pathetic Wii Wings. Welcome back, old friend. [From: Engadget]
