'Amazon Students' Offers Frugal Collegians Free Amazon Prime
If there's one thing every college student loves, it's saving money. So, as good companies do, Amazon has decided to seize upon this demographic consumer tendency by offering a new program called 'Amazon Students.' The program gives any student with an .edu e-mail address a free, one-year subscription to the company's Amazon Prime service, which normally costs $79 per year. (Non-collegians can still sign up for a free one-month Prime trial.) Former students or dropouts, however, need not apply; having an e-mail address from a U.S. university won't be enough, though, as you'll still need to prove that you're enrolled in at least one course. As TechCrunch points out, Amazon's latest initiative seems like a great way to get college kids hooked on the luxuries of free two-day shipping, and, in the long run, could help spawn a younger generation of Amazon devotees. Now, if Amazon could just find a way to incorporate free beer and frat parties into the program, it'd be a true goldmine. [From: TechCrunch]

I'm a student and I'm using the free Prime to buy my textbooks. It makes me more likely to choose them now for sure. I don't think I'd pay for prime when it expires but I sure like Amazon. :)
