Finally, the world's biggest sports superstar has joined the Twitterverse.
NBA star LeBron James announced his social networking presence with a simple greeting that read, "
Hello World, the Real King James is in the Building 'Finally'." As Geekosystem reports, the verified Twitter account dubbed
KingJames emerged Tuesday. Before James even sent one tweet, he had 86,000 followers. Now, he's eclipsed the 200,000 mark, and, with James set to announce his next NBA team on TV Thursday night, we expect that number will continue to grow. But why the late entrance? Apparently, fellow NBA star Chris Paul nagged LeBron until he finally gave in and joined Twitter. The fact that LeBron's goal is to become a global icon, which can't be done these days without a social media presence, probably played a part in his decision, too.
But with only two tweets, it's clear LeBron is still working on his game. Maybe he should ask his former teammate and
Twitter all-star Shaquille O'Neal for some advice. Shaq Diesel might be past his prime on the court, but with almost 3 million followers, he could teach LeBron a thing or two about social networking. [From:
