Firefox 4 Beta Gets Speed Boost and Crash Protection

Firefox 4 Beta Screenshot
Yesterday, Mozilla finally took Firefox to the 4.0 level with the release of its Firefox 4 Beta 1 browser. As Mozilla explains on its blog, the revamped version features a new add-on manager, hardware-accelerated HD video capabilities, tighter privacy options and stronger crash protection in order to provide what it calls "uninterrupted browsing" capabilities. (If a window or tab freezes, the whole program won't collapse.) Downloads of the new version are already available for Windows, Linux and OS X platforms, and, in order to better gauge user response, Mozilla is including a host of built-in (but optional) feedback channels in the new browser.

Give the new Firefox a spin here. but, as Engadget notes, Firefox 4 might not support all of your pre-existing add-ons right away, so you might want to keep your old Firefox in your back pocket, just in case. [From: Mozilla, via: Engadget]
